fivetimesnine was founded by Frederik Schüler in May 2007.

Frederik Schüler has been working with server technologies and operating systems based on free and open source software from the Linux© domain for more than 10 years. That adds up to a wealth of experience in the design and realization of high availability, load balancing and clustering.

2005

  • Management and expansion of the Linux© server infrastructure, Web and e-mail server clusters and storage area networks in a company with international operations.
  • Official developer in the Debian GNU/Linux© distribution (active cooperation since 2003).

2001

  • System administration and development of Linux© systems for a company in Hamburg.


    Responsibilities: development of a redundant server backend and fault-tolerant client architecture for multimedia, interactive TV systems on luxury cruise liners, including the shipping lines Cunard ("Queen Mary 2"), Hapag Lloyd ("MS Europa", "MS Hanseatic") and Norwegian Cruise Line ("Pride of America", "Pride of Hawaii").

1999

  • System administration for an Internet service provider.


    Tasks: installation and management of the technical infrastructure (SUSE© Linux© Web, database and e-mail servers, firewalls).
